About Me:

Gretchen Heinrich

My name is Gretchen Heinrich and I’m a freelance writer and editor. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Communications from Oakland University and I’m a self-published children’s author (http://gretchenheinrich.com). I’m married and I live in southeast Michigan with my husband and dog. I’ve worked in a variety of industries (including: Parks & Recreation, Health & Fitness, Property Management, and K-12 Education). When I’m not writing, editing, or reading I’m usually building something because my three older brothers passed on their knowledge, creativity, and love of power tools to me.

About My Process:

Quote/Order Stage:
Payment for Standard Editing projects must be submitted in full via the PayPal link. After payment is submitted, please email the text you want edited in a Microsoft Word document (.docx) or in the body of the email to gretchen@lookingglasscopywriting.com. Please also include answers to the following:

  • Your Contact Information:
    • Name
    • Phone Number
    • Email
  • What type of text is it?
    • Examples: letter, personal statement, About Me/Us page, letter of intent,
statement of purpose, email, product description, article, blog, etc.
  • What is the main goal / message?
  • What is the desired minimum word count? (if applicable)
  • What is the desired maximum word count? (if applicable)

I will reply to your email and confirm receipt of the document and payment before I begin the Editing Stage.

Editing Stage:
Structural Edits: I will review the structure and flow and suggest changes for clarity and consistency.
Line Edits: I will conduct a line-by-line review of your text to ensure voice, style, and tone consistency.
Rewrites: I will rewrite and improve your text when needed.
Proofreading: I will review, correct and revise the text to ensure it is grammatically correct and free of typos.

You will receive the final edited copy delivered in a Microsoft Word document (.docx) with Track Changes showing exactly what was edited.

Collaboration Stage:
Revisions: After completing the edits, I offer my clients the opportunity to submit feedback and critiques. This is a very important part of the process. Without feedback, I don’t know whether the changes I made exceeded your expectations or fell short. So, if for any reason you’re dissatisfied, please use this collaboration stage to your advantage and work with me to get the most out of our time together.

Three (3) rounds of revisions are included with my editing services. If further revisions are requested/needed, clients will be asked to pay an additional $50 for each additional round of revision.

During the collaboration stage, I ask that clients respond promptly with their feedback (within 48 hours) so that the project can be completed in a timely manner.
